2. List and describe the â€Å"The Big Five Personality Traits.† Which one best fits your personality and why? Kathleen Berger defines â€Å"The Big Five Personality Traits† as â€Å"the five basic clusters of personality traits that remain quite stable throughout life: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism,† (Berger p 198). Openness consists of creativity and knowledgeability. Sanjay Srivastava describes conscientiousness as being â€Å"traits like organized, thorough and planful,† (Srivastava 2014). Extraversion is like being talkative and outgoing. Agreeableness can be compared to showing affection and sympathy. Neuroticism is emotional stability. I would associate myself with the agreeableness trait because I feel that I display kindness and gentleness and that I am affectionate. 3. Obesity in US children is on the increase. What three things can parents do to avoid obesity in their children? Why is each important? The institute of medicine, as quoted by Kathleen Berger states that â€Å"obesity is more common in infants who are not breast-fed, in preschoolers who watch TV and dink soda, and in school-age children who are not breast-fed, and in school-aged children who are driven to school and rarely play outside,† (Berger p329). The nutrients in a mother’s breast milk can increase the health of the child and reduce the risk of obesity. Encouraging children to play sports and be more active can contribute to preventing obesity.
